Jayalalithaa dies of cardiac arrest: Reports

Tamilnadu’s oldest and No. 1 newspaper has reported that Jayalalithaa has passed away.

In the recent turn of events, another shocking news has hit our country and especially the state of Tamilnadu. As per the news channels in Tamilnadu, Jayalalithaa has passed away in the Apollo hospital after her condition worsened.

Amma’s sad demise comes as a major blow to the AIADMK as well as her supporters and the state of Tamilnadu is mourning over this news.

The veteran leader was admitted to the Apollo hospital on 22nd September. According to initial reports, she was suffering from fever and dehydration which later on transpired to an infection. Dr. Richard Beale, a specialist from the London Bridge Hospital was also called at the Apollo hospital for assistance.

There were rumours suggesting that Jayalalitha was suffering from pulmonary edema and that she was supposed to be transferred to Singapore, which the hospital denied.

Earlier, doctors at the Apollo hospital claimed that the CM was responding in a positive manner to the treatment. Their bulletin read,

“Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s health continues to improve and is responding adequately to the comprehensive treatment being given to her.”

Many controversies prevailed at the time when Amma was admitted. The opposition party went on to edit her Wikipedia page with a news which confirmed her death.  The DMK president and former CM Karunanidhi had shared his concerns over her health in this statement.

“Due to the keeping of Jayalalithaa’s health condition a closely-guarded secret, some people are spreading baseless rumours about her health condition.”

On November 17, one of the AIADMK leaders shared that Jayalalithaa’s lung infection has been cured and she is breathing without respiratory support.

Assurances of her returning home also made news three days later. On the 4th of December, the party shared that Jayalalithaa will return home after a confirmation from an AIIMS expert team about her recovery.

However, a few hours later, she suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed into the ICU.

The hospital COO Subbiah Viswanathan shared,

She is being treated and monitored by a team of experts, including pulmonologists, cardiologists and critical care specialists.

As soon as the news broke out, State Ministers, the Chief Secretary and top bureaucrats rushed to the hospital. As a precaution, police personnel has been stationed in the areas surrounding the hospital as Amma’s followers have gathered in masses.

Being Indian pays homage to Jayalalithaa and may her soul rest in peace.
