Torrential rain leading to poor visibility forced cancellation of all flight operations at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport here on Tuesday night until 5am on Wednesday, sources said.

The situation was further compounded by a SpiceJet flight from Varanasi to Mumbai which skidded and got stuck in the mud after landing, blocking the main runway.

Consequently, flight operations have been temporarily suspended till early Wednesday morning.
Though details of the number of flights which would be affected are not immediately available, a majority could be on international sectors.
Jet Airways has already announced temporary suspension of all its flight operations.
