Misery For Ram Rahim Is Not Over Yet

After his adopted daughter Honeypreet captured after evading the cops for over a month, so-called godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim is set for more heartache. The High Court on Monday acknowledged an appeal for the Dera Chief to be imprisoned for life.

The two victims of the rape case filed the appeal against Ram Rahim. The acknowledgment comes after Ram Rahim challenged CBI Court’s verdict. The special CBI court had earlier sentenced him to 20 years in prison after he was convicted in 2002 for a rape case.

Navkiran Singh, the victims’ counsel told PTI that the rape victims want the court to sentence Ram Rahim to life-imprisonment. In response to the victims' appeal, S K Garg Narwana said that the court has accepted Ram Rahim’s appeal to challenge the conviction.

The CBI court didn’t show any leniency or sympathy towards Ram Rahim when sentencing him to 20 years imprisonment term for raping the two victims who the court said were blind followers and gullible. Ram Rahim was fined Rs 15 lakh for each rape case. He is currently locked up in the Sunaria jail in Rohtak.
