Mom dies before son’s body reaches home...

An 85-year-old mother died of heart attack in India as social workers in Bahrain were engaged in the process of repatriating her son’s dead body to his hometown in Kerala.

The body of Suku Nadarajan (50) who was a resident for the past 30 years, was kept in the SMC mortuary for more than a week before being flown back home yesterday in a Gulf Air flight from the Bahrain International Airport to Trivandrum Airport.

Unfortunately, Suku’s mother who had been admitted to a hospital after suffering a stroke passed away hours  before the flight carrying her son’s dead body landed at the airport.

Suku Nadarajan who was brain-dead after falling unconscious was admitted to Salmaniya Medical Complex hospital on May 15.    It is learnt that Suku had legally divorced his wife and was working as a driver to eke out his livelihood.

Relatives had not informed the mother about her son’s death. They had told Tribune that she was in an agony thinking about her son.  The last time Suku visited his hometown was seven years ago. The relatives said Suku’s  body will be cremated near his mother’s grave.
