Attention! Do Not Mix These Household Products. They Can Kill You

Mixing different household ingredients can be quite dangerous. Unfortunately, not many know that some combinations release toxic gases, which makes them a real health threat, especially in regard to your lungs and brain.

The tips we provide below can help you learn which products to never mix, and thus protect your and your family’s health.

1# Bleach and ammonia

The combination of bleach and ammonia leads to formation of toxic fumes, mostly chloramines, which are extremely dangerous for your eyes. They should never be inhaled either.

2# Chlorine bleach and vinegar

Any acid, including vinegar, becomes extremely dangerous when combined with chlorine, due to the toxic chlorine gas that it releases.

3# Baking soda and vinegar

This combination may be really effective for cleaning, but it’s something that you should avoid at all costs. The thing is that baking soda or sodium bicarbonate reacts with acetic acid, which is found in vinegar, and produces sodium acetate, water, and carbon dioxide as a result. In addition, vinegar triggers bubbling in baking soda, which can even result in explosion if the two are mixed in a closed container.

4# Rubbing alcohol and bleach

The combination of rubbing alcohol and bleach is in fact a combination of chloroform and hydrochloric acid, which is extremely dangerous. Using bleach alone is a much safer option.

5# Hydrogen peroxide and vinegar

Although commonly used as a cleaning device, this combination is another big no-no, because it results in formation of peracetic acid, which is extremely harmful and can cause injuries on your skin, eyes as well as respiratory system.

6# Two different cleaners

It’s a common misconception that mixing two cleaners, for example a window cleaner and some universal cleaner, will give better results. The truth couldn’t be further from this because each cleaner has its particular purpose and mixing different types can be quite dangerous.
