First New iPhone Dummy Models Shown On Video

There will not be two new iPhones in 2018, there will be three. Apple will also break new ground in terms of both size and affordable pricing. And now we know how these new models will look and feel…

The consistently reliable 9to5Mac, has attained dummy models of Apple’s all-new 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus and head-turning 6.1-inch ‘budget’ iPhone X and filmed them in a new video (below). 9to5Mac notes its source has “shared accurate dummies for iPhones in year’s past.”

The good news is the dummy align with detailed schematics I attained last month and that means seriously exciting news for customers both with substantial budgets and those wanting a bargain.

Looking at the flagship model first, the dummy units illustrate that Apple will be able to crowbar the massive iPhone X Plus display into a chassis no larger than the 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus thanks to its adoption of the iPhone X’s so-called ‘bezel-less’ display. Moreover, the budget iPhone X will also offer a bezel-less design and potentially for less money than an iPhone 8.

Elsewhere, Apple won’t follow-up on its radical plans to remove the Lightning port - at least this year. Instead, customers are likely to be treated to free fast wired charging.

Needless to say, these dummy units don’t answer either of the potentially more troubling questions about the iPhone X Plus and budget iPhone X. With the former, Apple is expected to take a big risk with its display to save money. While the latter may look a lot worse than you would expect from looking at these models.

Then again, with the new iPhones covering all sizes and all budgets I suspect even Apple’s surprise iPhone X cancellation won’t worry too many fans…
