10: National Bank of Kuwait
The National Bank of Kuwait was founded in 1952 as the first local bank and the first shareholding company in the Kuwait region. It was founded when a Kuwait merchant went to the British Bank of the Middle East to request a loan, and was rejected. This led him to start his own bank, with a mission to serve national needs as its priority. Today the National Bank of Kuwait is the largest financial institution in Kuwait, with market dominance in the commercial banking market, and has the largest presence in Kuwait with 67 branches.
