Here's How You Can Keep Your Feet Squeaky Clean And From Smelling Bad This Summer

With the summers comes the annoying problem of smelly feet, and also during rains. Summer and monsoon are seasons of sweat and irksome skin diseases. But by a few simple changes in your life, like reducing alcohol consumption, tweaking your diet a little and eliminating certain nutrients to relieve perspiration, you can keep these pesky problems at bay.

Acharya Chandra Kant Verma, an Ayurveda specialist at Amishi Naturals and Ridhi Arya, Dermatologist at Me Clinic, have listed a few ways to treat the issue of smelly feet, especially during the rains:

Wash feet right, and frequently:

You might think that a simple shower would be enough to keep your feet clean, but you should wash your feet with an antibacterial soap every day, preferably twice a day in monsoons.

Vinegar bath:

You can even try home remedies like vinegar baths, in which you soak feet in one part vinegar and two parts water. This reduces the level of bacteria that causes the odour.

Salt wash:

Try salt washes by pouring half cup kosher salt into four cups water, and then soak the feet for 10 to 15 minutes. This will help remove the smell.

Use baking soda:

It is important to keep the feet clean and remove moisture by applying baking soda, cornstarch and arrowroot powder.

Socks are essential:

Don't go sock-free, and wear a fresh pair of socks every day during the monsoon.

Alcohol is a no-no:

Reduce alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking to avoid toxins from entering the body. These toxins lead to smelly perspiration.
