Some Must Know Tricks To Use Moisturizer For Oily Skin

Here’s the thing about oily skin. It often leads to acne and other angry breakouts, which then lead to panic and drastic damage control measures, which further tend to be extreme and eventually, damaging. So, let’s all take a breath in greasy skin solidarity and think about what we’re doing for a moment.

Moisturizing skin isn’t the same as making it oily. Our skin needs to be hydrated and moisturized no matter how oily or acne prone it might be. That’s just a fact. The trick is to remember that not any moisturizer would do, and also always be aware of all the other things you might be doing to make the situation worse.

For starters, are you guilty of washing your face every couple of hours with an oil-free face wash? Do you overdo the dermatological treatments such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion and what not? Have you tried every over-the-counter ointment for acne or acne blemishes? Well, you’re overdoing it. Your skin needs to breathe. And you’re not letting it. You are:

 a) depriving it of essential moisture

 b) using harsh chemicals

 c) not letting it breathe

Stop. Take another breath. Acne and other breakouts that happen on the face can feel like the end of the world, granted. But in getting stressed out and anxious, we drive our bodies to overproduce precisely the hormones that don’t help the situation. And guess what? It makes the oily skin problems much, much worse. So for starters, stop what you’re doing and try this.

How To Use Moisturizer For Oily Skin:

a)     Wash your face no more than twice a day with soap-free face wash.

b)     Use a mild moisturizer like Olay Total Effects 7 in One Day Cream at least once a day, taking care not to slather it on like sunscreen.

c)      Drinks lots of water.

d)     Change your diet to exclude the fried, oily stuff and fill your plate with green leafies, fruits and other nutritious foods.

e)     Exercise and make sure to wash up and dry yourself completely after every workout.

f)       Use herbal face packs such as a blend of fuller’s earth (to tighten skin and absorb excess oil) and honey (to moisturizer lightly).

g)     Get enough rest (cannot be said enough).

h)     Do not stress.

i)       Do breathing exercises (even if it’s just for 5 minutes every morning).

4 Important Tips For Choosing Moisturizer For Oily Skin:

  • Finding the right moisturizer for oily skin is really not that hard. All you have to do is look for an ingredient called Dimethicone as opposed to Petrolatum which is what makes traditional moisturizers rather heavy for oily skin.
  • If it helps, ask for help when you get to the store. Tell the store assistant that you’re looking for something specifically for your oily skin, one that keeps your skin moisturized while absorbing excess oil.
  • Most acne and other oil-control products in the market tend to absorb all oil, not just excess oil, which can dry and damage your skin and bring in a whole load of other problems.
  • So make sure to mention that you’re looking for a mild moisturizer.
  • Once you find the right one (as with true love), make sure to use it at least once a day. See how it feels on your skin. And when you know it’s right, make sure to maintain your little beauty ritual without overdoing it. Have patience. That’s always the trick to dealing with oily skin woes.
