3 Egyptians working for MOI arrested – Distributing data of 1,800,000 Kuwaitis and expats

Three Egyptian expatriates, one of who works in a sensitive department of Ministry of Interior, were arrested for illegal distribution of information relating to 1,800,000 Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates. According to security sources, when General Department for Criminal Evidences received information about the transfer of information concerning a large number of citizens and expatriates, investigations were launched.

An undercover agent reached an agreement with an Egyptian expatriate to purchase information at a price of KD 200.

 

While handing over a flash memory with the details of 1,800,000 Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates and receiving the agreed amount, the suspect was arrested. Securitymen discovered that the suspect obtained the information from a compatriot who works in a department affiliated to Ministry of Interior.

The employee was arrested and he confessed to selling the information to two compatriots including the first suspect. The third suspect was arrested at Kuwait International Airport just before he left the country. The sources revealed that the information contained in the confiscated fl ash memory is considered as extremely confidential. Ministry of Interior has launched extensive investigations in this regard.
