Before you plan a trip to a foreign land or even imagine a residential situation there, it is very important to keep yourself updated with the basic laws and regulations of the land. Here’s a list of things that are a must-know if you are considering a trip/stay in Qatar.

Entry/Exit Requirements

You must have all your documentation in place, including passport and visa, along with all the other essential identification cards and certificates you may need for any legal/official proceedings.

 

You may choose to enter through the main border by land via Sauda Nathil or Abu Samra, by air you would land at Doha International Airport, and if you travel by sea you will go through ports of

Doha and Mesaieed. It is best to be prepared with necessary paperwork for each of the mediums

Customs Regulations

You should be aware of the customs charges for the various goods you might be carrying. This tax will be applied to your goods by the Customs General Authority at the point of entry. Alcoholic drinks are strictly banned in the country and will be dealt with at the point of the entry itself.

Firearms and ammunition need a special permit. Knives, dagger, pornographic materials, drugs, and other such items are prohibited.

You need an import permit for importing pets from the Ministry of Agriculture. Cats with proper documentations are permitted to enter with ease however, dogs of certain breeds are more difficult to enter. Proper records of vaccinations and registration of your pet are required for travel and entry.
