The UAE cabinet on Tuesday approved a draft law on equal pay for equal work for both genders.
The announcement was made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai on his Twitter handle.
"We adopted the draft of the legislation, the first of its kind, for equality in salaries and wages for both genders. We do not want any exception when it comes to providing equal opportunities for both genders," he said.
"Our Constitution calls for equal rights and duties of the genders, and we seek to elaborate, enforce and guarantee this constitutional right through the new law," he added.
