Rust on your utensils can be little irritating. It can spoil the look and also ruin the object. Anything from children's toys, vehicle bumpers to utensils can get ruined due to rusting.
The most common rust is the one from iron oxides. It is caused when objects get oxygenated due to exposure to water or air moisture. And when you get hard water at home, it makes it even worse. Since rust removers you get in markets can be toxic, here are five easy ways to get rid of the rust from your objects.
1.Scrub with a potato
Cut potato in half and dip it in dish soap. Soak it for few hours and then use the potato to scrub. Keep cutting the potato's top layer and re-applying the soap. Potatoes contain oxalic acid that helps dissolve rust. You can also sprinkle some salt on the cut surface.
2.Sprinkle salt and squeeze lime
Sprinkle little salt and then add lime over it. Let it sit for three hours. Then use a lemon to scrub it. The rust will easily come off. Salt is abrasive and lemon has acidity which together work well as rust remover.
3.Dip aluminum foil in vinegar
This is not quite known but is an effective hack. Dip aluminium foil in white vinegar and use it to scrub the rust. If the object is huge, pour some vinegar on the rusted surface, and wipe with a rag after a few hours.
4.Use old toothbrush to scrub
Abrasive bushes can easily scrub away the rust. You can also use steel wool. However, if it is little too much, this may not be very effective
5.Sprinkle baking soda on rust
This works most of the time. Put baking soda directly on the rust and scrub it with a brush. It is little bit of hard work, but works fine.
