Earthquake in Nepal: incredible images of destroyed historical monuments in Kathmandu
7.8 on the Richter scale. The earthquake that occurred on Saturday is the deadliest in 80 years in Nepal. There are more than 3,400 deaths, according to a provisional toll and more than 6,500 injured. The damage is also very huge. In Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, a lot of historic buildings are in ruins. Temples and towers classified as UNESCO’s world heritage were heavily damaged by the earthquake.

1.Bhimsen Tower
The earthquake caused the collapse of the historic tower Dharhara, located in the center of Kathmandu, the Nepalese capital, which was already destroyed in 1934 in a previous catastrophe.
Nine floors of this white tower, dating from the nineteenth century, remained virtually just the rubbles, according to TV’s pictures. Rescuers helped by people trying to clear the bodies from the ruins. People run scared into the street at the time of the earthquake that occurred at lunch time, around noon, and buildings collapsed across the city.
2.Kathmandu Durbar Square
One of the most popular tourist sites in Kathmandu is the Kathmandu Durbar Square. It is famous for its three Hindu temples dedicated to different deities: MajuDeval (dedicated to Shiva, the Hindu god of yoga), Vishnu (Narayana dedicated, ancient goddess of the waters) and Indrapur (dedicated to Indra, king of the gods and Lord of sky). All three collapsed following the earthquake on Saturday and are almost completely destroyed.
