Yesterday, residents of Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City were shocked when gunshots rang throughout their neighborhood and that it was a police officer who allegedly went on a shooting-spree in his home.
It was soon discovered that this police officer shot and killed his wife and teenage son.
In a report by Jamie Santos of GMA-7’s “24 Oras”, the suspect was identified as Police Officer 2 Roal Sabiano, a member of the Regional Public Security Group of the National Capital Region Police Office and assigned to Camp Bicutan.
Sabiano surrendered to the police after shooting his wife Mary Jane and 13-year-old Aljun.
The police arrived at the house and found the bloodied body of the victims lying in the living room.
Authorities have confirmed that gunshot wounds were the cause of the mother and the teen’s demise.
According to the residents of Brgy Commonwealth, consecutive gunshots were heard coming from the Sabiano house. The gunshots were heard within a few moments after the suspect’s arrival.
Luckily the eldest child 16-year-old Mary Jane was able to escape the house carrying her one-year-old baby sibling, while the chilling crime was on-going.
Roal Sabiano fled the scene of the crime but soon surrendered to barangay officials.
According to Deputy Ex-O of Brgy Commonwealth Armando Viduya, the suspect appeared to be dazed and was quiet about any other details concerning his actions.
Indeed, it’s unclear what caused the police officer to go on a rampage in his home. Drug tests came up negative when Sabiano was tested for illegal substances in his blood.
