9 people killed and wounded in explosions in Baghdad

One person was killed and eight others wounded in two separate explosions in Latifiya and Duanem in Baghdad.

 

An Iraqi security source said that an explosive device exploded near the industrial neighborhood in Latifiya, south of Baghdad, killing one civilian and wounding three others, while five people were wounded in another bomb explosion in the area Duanem southwest of the capital.

In a related context, a security source said that Iraqi security forces arrested two people after storming a house in the area Al-Mada'in, south of Baghdad, and found equipment and weapons.

Meanwhile, an Iraqi security source announced today the start of operations to eliminate and hunt down elements of ISIS and "sleep cells" in the areas south of Kirkuk.

He explained that the security operation includes five axes, involving the Iraqi army and the command of Kirkuk operations with the support of the army's air force in the districts of Hawija, through the Hamrin Mountains, and Zarka, west district of Tuz Khurmatu, north of the country.
