Non-Muslims cannot obtain Kuwaiti citizenship

Representative Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt-Gen Sheik Khaled Al-Jarrah said that "the individuals who need to get Kuwaiti citizenship must be a Muslim",  reports Al-Rai daily.

"The government confirms that the religion of the state is Islam, and that the individuals who need to get the nationality of the State of Kuwait must be a Muslim, and in this manner the Ministry of Interior trusts that the present text of the Amiri Decree 1959/15 of the Nationality Law of Kuwait ought to remain," Khaled Al-Jarrah said in an update to the National Assembly on the non-Muslim naturalization proposal.
