Dubai’s best cheap bars and drinks

1 Bar Baar
This new kid on the block is already a favourite in our books. Having debuted in March, this spot replaced former Time Out Dubai award-winning hangout The Music Room, and there was a collective holding of breath as we eagerly awaited to find out if Bar Baar could fill its predecessor’s sizeable shoes. And it does it with aplomb. This Indian-themed gastropub pays homage to its live music heritage with regular performances. Regular prices for a bottle of hops come in at around Dhs38, but there’s a brilliant Dhs10 drinks deal every Tuesday from 7pm until 3am. Tremendous.
Open daily noon-3am. Majestic Hotel Tower, Bur Dubai (04 501 2631).

2 Centre Circle
For a night spent shooting some pool, catching a couple of matches with a good two-for-one happy hour and well-priced drinks, you can’t go wrong with Centre Circle in Al Barsha. Bottles of hops are available for just Dhs34, and if you’re there on a Friday night, ladies’ get three free drinks coupons, too, to keep you into the early hours
Open daily noon-3am. Ramada Chelsea Hotel, Al Barsha(04 501 9000).

3 Champions Sports Bar
Up at the JW Marriott Dubai in Deira, you’ll come across this dark, hidey-hole of a sports bar that has more screens than you can shake a cricket bat at. It might not necessarily be the cheapest bar in the area, but at Dhs35 for a bottle of hops we’re not complaining and the prices. With sports showing on various screens around the bar, pool, live music and loads of neon lights, you’re in good hands for a good night at this hotspot. And it’s practically perfect for light-dodging late-night sports fans.
Open daily 6pm-3am. JW Marriott Dubai, Deira (04 607 7977).

4 Goodfellas
On match day, you may want to head to this Barsha Heights bar – if you’re a Liverpool fan, because this is one of the city’s loyal fan bars. The rest of the week, allegiances are put aside, so head on over for a well-priced bevvie. You’ll be able to get a bottle of hops for as little as Dhs35, which is alright by us.
Open daily noon-3am. Ramee Rose Hotel, Barsha Heights (04 450 0111).
