DOLE to release OFW ID guidelines ‘very soon’

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is eyeing to release the draft guidelines for the much-awaited identification card for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) next week.
DOLE Undersecretary Ciriaco Lagunzad III said the agency is in talks with stakeholders to finalize and release draft guidelines next week, reported Rappler.
“We have a series of consultations before we issue [the guidelines]. DOLE will issue very soon,” the report quoted Lagunzad as saying.
Lagunzad said DOLE has pegged “scheduled meetings with civil society organizations this Friday, August 4, and recruitment agencies on Monday, August 7”.

It will be followed by a meeting with “other government agencies next week”.
DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III said on July 17 that the agency will release the guidelines last month, but the ID cards will be released later.
“Ang ilalabas namin within one to two weeks ay ‘yung implementing guidelines. Siguro by first or second week of August, ilalabas na natin ang mga iDs,” he said.
