A Filipina helper has accused a Pakistani worker of raping her inside the gym of their sponsor’s villa, filming her naked and threatened to kill her and send the clip to her family if she reported the incident.

The 21-year-old Pakistani worker in April was said to have followed the 45-year-old Filipina maid when she went to clean the gym at the villa, where both of them lived.

According to reports, the worker beat up the maid and pinned her to the floor before he raped her. He also filmed her naked and threatened to kill her and to dishonour her by sending her nude images to her family if she told their sponsor what happened.

However, the Filipino woman was undeterred and informed another co-worker about the incident before they went to the police. Court prosecutors accused the worker of rape, verbal threat and breaching the Filipina’s modesty.

Before Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday, the defendant pleaded not guilty while strongly denying the rape accusation, claiming that he and the Filipina had consensual sex. He also contended that he took photos of the maid partially dressed and not naked, while denying he threatened her verbally.

The woman told prosecutors that the suspect followed her into the gym and locked the door behind him.

“He grabbed me forcefully and beat me. He ripped off my dress and, when I tried to stop him, he said ‘if you speak, I will kill you’. Then he removed his clothes and molested me. I begged him to stop and told him that I am a married woman and have children in the Philippines… he didn’t stop.

“Then he twisted my arm backwards, pinned me down to the floor, and raped me. I told him that someone had entered the gym to scare him and make him leave me. Then I dressed up and ran to my bedroom where I cried. He had also filmed me naked and threatened to send the images to my family if I reported to the sponsor what he did.

“He also threatened to kill me. Thereafter I told my co-worker [a cook] what had happened and he informed my sponsor’s brother because my sponsor was abroad. Police came and apprehended him,” the Filipina testified.

The Indian cook testified before the prosecutors that the maid told him in the kitchen about what had happened to her. “She also showed the marks on her arm, she was devastated and almost fainted when she told me what happened,” he said.
