GOOD NEWS: No More Terminal Fee For OFWs Starting March 2017

Overseas Filipino Workers will no longer have to the terminal fee at NAIA amounting to P550 starting next year, March 2017.

The announcement was made by the General Manager of Manila International Airport Authority, Ed Monreal. OFWs won’t have to line up with long queue just to get the refund for the terminal fee which is being paid as an extra change when buying airline tickets. Monreal added that this move aims to guarantee hassle-free service to all Overseas Filipino Workers.

According to the law, OFWs should not pay the fee but still the regulation was implemented last February of 2015. Protests led by different OFW groups were done until it was decided that a refund will be available at NAIA but the lines are too long and OFWs are complaining about it. The House of Representatives and Senate opposed against this terminal fee but previous MIAA General Manager stood firm to his decision.
