A total of 77 women have been arrested on charges of prostitution, the Royal Oman Police announced on Tuesday evening, reported TimesofOman.
Sixty-six of the women arrested were of Asian origin, while seven were of African nationality. A further four Asians were arrested in connection with these activities.
A statement released by the Royal Oman Police said, “The Muscat Governorate Police Command, with the support of the Special Task Force Command, has carried out a security campaign to arrest women who are in violation of the Residence Law for Foreigners and those accused of carrying out prostitution, and acts contrary to morality and public morals.
The statement added, “Sixty-six women of Asian nationalities and seven other of various African nationalities have been seized, in addition to four of Asian nationality in connection with these cases. The case is under process.”
