Filipina marries dead boyfriend before burial

The death of her fiancé, days before their wedding date, did not stop a Filipina from saying ‘I do’.

Zyrine Delmendo, who hails from Cauayan City, Isabela, from professed her love before Jake Anthony Macadangdang was laid to his final rest.

On September 1, Delmendo tied the knot with Macadangdang in Aves Memorial Garden in San Fermin, Isabela, before the latter’s interment. Present were their families and friends who supported Delmendo’s decision to proceed with the wedding despite their circumstances.

According to an interview with RMN, Delmendo said that they have been planning to get married until Macadangdang got killed by getting plowed by a car whose driver he got into an argument with on August 24.

However, lawyer Randy Arreola said that the wedding is not valid since the other signatory to the wedding contract is no longer alive.

He added that it did not matter if it was officiated by a pastor since the wedding to a person who passed away cannot be registered and will not be legal.
