Indian airport temporarily halts operations

The Cochin International Airport in Kerala has suspended operations temporarily after the airport was inundated with water due to heavy rains and floods in Kerala, airport authorities announced.

Officials said that the airport will remain shut till Saturday, August 18. According to the statement, authorities are in the process of draining out storm water, but water levels have been steadily rising and that could pose a challenge.

The Airport Authorities said, “Kochi Airport has temporarily suspended operations till 2 pm, Saturday, August 18, since the inflow of water is still rising. We are working hard on draining out the storm water. All are requested to co-operate.”
