Missing call center agent found dead, stuffed inside luggage in Baclaran

The body of a person found dead inside an abandoned luggage in Baclaran last week has finally been identified by Pasay City police.

The victim was identified as Leonardo Calleja, a 33- year-old call center agent from Las Piñas City. He was reported missing by his family last January 19.

According to his friends, they went out for dinner that night before going on their separate ways. The victim, however, said he was supposed to meet someone in Camella subdivision.

It was the last time he was seen alive. Family and relatives reported him missing after they were unable to contact his phone and did not receive any messages.

On January 22, authorities discovered a luggage dumped near the LRT station in Baclaran. Found inside was a dead body of a man believed to be strangled to death.

Found near the crime scene were a comb, face powder and a pair of slippers.

It took nearly a week before the police finally identified the victim as Calleja; the missing call center agent.

Investigators are eyeing robbery as the primary motive as the victim’s phone and wallet were nowhere to be found. However, police are not discounting other motives but refused to divulge further details.

Also, the authorities said they now have a ‘person of interest’ in the case but his identity has not been revealed pending investigation.
