OFW in Oman chooses boyfriend over children?

The family of an overseas Filipina worker (OFW) in Oman called for help after their loved one chose to send remittances to her boyfriend than her children.

In an episode of Raffy Tulfo in Action, Marlyn Lazo said that her daughter, OFW Irene, has rarely sent remittances to her four children, and gives all her earnings abroad to her boyfriend.

According to Lazo, she has also accumulated thousands in debt due to the expenses for her daughter’s deployment to Middle East in February 2017 and is now being pressured by her debtors to pay.

The OFW’s sister, Marlinda, revealed that Irene only sent money to them once.

The OFW explained that her family is “bullying” her boyfriend so she decided to stop sending them remittances when she gave them an ultimatum.

“Nung time po na magpapadala ako sa kanila, binully po ng binully yung lalaki eh wala naman pong ginagawa sa kanila. Marami po silang sinasabi sa akin kaya nasaktan ako, hindi na ako nagpadala ng pera sa kanila,” Irene said.

Irene added that her children also receives financial support from her former husband on a weekly basis.

When asked if she is willing to send monthly remittances to her family, the OFW said: “Hindi ko po maipapangako ‘yan. May sariling buhay din po kasi ako dito.”

A mad Tulfo began to question why Irene decided to become an OFW in the first place if she cannot send anything for her children.

Eventually, Irene agreed to send her family a portion of her salary.
