Php100,000 cash assistance given to OFW saved from death row in UAE

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) turned over Php100,000 financial assistance to the overseas Filipina worker who was saved from death row in the UAE.

OFW Jennifer Dalquez said that the financial help will help her start a small business in her hometown in General Santos City.

 

Dalquez also expressed her gratitude for all the assistance extended to her by the government.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa lahat ng tulong niyo sa akin para ako’y mapalaya. Nagpapasalamat din ako sa lahat ng tulong niyo para makapagsimula ng bagong buhay sa Pilipinas kasama ang aking pamilya,” Dalquez said.

The amount was handed over to Dalquez by Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Strategic Communications and Research Ernesto C. Abella.

After serving four years in jail, Dalquez, who was sentenced to death for murder but was acquitted in 2017.

She recently arrived in the country after the UAE government released her from prison.
