Doha Court of Misdemeanour has sentenced an Asian expatriate to six months in jail and ordered him to pay a fine of QR5,000 for embezzling a considerable sum of money from the company where he was employed.
According to local Arabic daily Arrayah, it was the man's responsibility to collect rent from tenants using the company's properties, reprted Gulf Times.
In like manner, he gathered an sum of QR787,000 from two inhabitants and gave them a receipt in the interest of the company. However, he didn't store the cash in the organization's ledger, the investigation revealed.
Organization authorities, as well, said the agents that they had discovered that the man had gathered lease yet not saved the sum in the record. They additionally affirmed that they had procured a free reviewer who affirmed the theft of the said sum.
In addition to the jail sentence and fine, the court ordered the convict to repay the company a sum of QR504,000.
