Qatar welcomes National Basketball Association's (NBA) world-famous stars Carmelo Anthony, Klay Thompson, Tracy McGrady and Luke Walton who landed in the country yesterday to promote basketball and also to see how Qatar is getting ready for the World Cup 2022.
The four basketball greats are visiting the country at the invitation of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and the Qatar Olympic Committee.
During their tour, the four NBA legends will take a tour of Khalifa Stadium, which is one of Qatar’s many World Cup 2022 stadiums and a well-known landmark of Doha, and will also visit Aspire Academy which is famous for his contributions to sports in the country.

On September 3, Thompson, a four-time All-Star, and Anthony, one of NBA’s all-time top scorers and a Hall of Famer, will hold a masterclass workshop for school students at the Qatar Academy.
A number of children, both Qatari and expatriate, will get the chance to brush up their basketball skills with pointers from Walton and McGrady.
The players will visit the Shafallah Centre, compete with Qatar’s national women’s basketball team and also interact with students from Doha-based American universities Georgetown, Northwestern, Texas A&M and Carnegie Mellon.
Souq Waqif and the Museum of Islamic Art are also on the agenda, and the NBA legends will get the chance to take in some of the sights and sounds of Qatar while enjoying the local traditions of hospitality and warmth that make this beautiful country the friendly and hospitable place that it is.
