Just in case you are new to Qatar or somehow forgot the hard-learned procedure to get a smart card, here’s how:
You can submit a request to obtain smart ID for residents and select the required services and their duration through this service provided by the Ministry of Interior.
Offline Instructions
- Fill out the required information in the application form.
- Select the required services.
- Print the form.
Additional Information
- The previous services are allowed only for those who are 18 years old.
- You should get the vital data.
- In case of first time request, the applicant should sign the organizing agreement for e-Government services request.
- The reviewer should activate e-Government services every time he issues another ID (through website attached activation devices).
Fees
- Applicable fees are as follows:
- QR100 for the ID Card issuance.
- QR100 for e-Gate services for one year.
- QR150 for e-Gate services for two years.
- QR200 for e-Gate services for three years.
- QR250 for e-Government services for three years.
Go to the immigration department Gate 2 in Madinat Khalifa with your ID card (Residency card)
Have your photo taken at a booth, and fingerprint both your hands. (Immigration staff will assist you)
Get in line to get a token number and wait for it to be called.
When you're called, go to the counter. Tell them you did your fingerprinting on the system and request for the Smart ID for one or two or three years. You can pay for the E-Gate card/Smart ID for up to 3 years.
Immigration will then swap your Residency ID for a chipped ID card (as shown in photo). With this E-Card you should be able to skip immigration and passport control and use the e-Gate, as long as you have your exit permit.
