World War 3: Iran's ballistic missiles 'will send' every Arab capital 'into the abyss'

Adel al-Jubeir, the foreign minister for the Saudi state, issued the warning to Iran that significantly increases the prospect of World War 3 breaking out in the Middle East.

He said: “Showing leniency toward Iran will not leave any Arab capital safe from those ballistic missiles.”

“We will not stand idly by in the face of Iran’s aggression.

“Iran created agents in the region, such as the Houthi and Hezbollah militias, in total disregard for all international principles.”

The foreign minister stated that Iran has launched 80 missiles from Yemen since March 2015.

Yemen has found itself plunged into a civil conflict for over two years - Mr Adel accused Iran of “meddling” in the conflict and another in Lebanon.

The foreign minister echoed earlier remarks from Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, the head of the Arab League, that condemned Iran’s actions for plunging the middle east into the “abyss”.

He stated: "We say it in clear terms that Iranian threats have exceeded all boundaries and are pushing the region toward the abyss.

“Iran’s missile program poses a danger to the region.”

The Arab League issued a statement saying it will not declare war on Iran at the moment.

It read: “We are not declaring war on Iran at this stage.

“We have not taken a decision to ask the Security Council to meet, but we are just briefing the council and maybe the next stage would be for us to meet and call for a Security Council meeting and submit a draft Arab resolution against Iran.”

Saudi Arabia has significantly increased its rhetoric against Tehran since intercepting a ballistic missile fired by Shiite rebels in Yemen on November 4 - the country declared that the attack was conspired by Iran and was an act of war.

Israel has made no secret of its distaste for Iran’s provocations after a senior Israeli commander suggested that working with Saudi Arabia could be the key to countering the threat imposed by the nation.

Lieutenant General Gadi Eisenkot said: “We are ready to exchange experiences with moderate Arab countries and exchange intelligence to confront Iran.

“We are ready to share information if necessary.

“There are many common interests between us and them.”

The General added that Israel had “no intention” of attacking Hezbollah in Lebanon, but warned he wouldn’t accept the group’s military build up becoming “a strategic threat”.

Hezbollah is a fundamental part of the coalition government in Lebanon - Iran is using Iraq as a proxy to the nation thanks to political and religious ties.
