Syrians told to renew visit visas – Those getting involved in illegal activities will face immediate deportation

The Ministry of the Interior has given directives of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah to renew the visit visas of Syrians for 3 months through the Department of Residence Affairs in the respective governorates, reports Al-Rai daily.

A reliable source close to the issue said the visas are renewable for a similar period after the expiry of three months provided the visitors abide by the laws of the country and does not get involved in illegal activities.

 

Those getting involved in illegal activities will face immediate deportation. Security sources said Assistant Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry for Citizenship and Passport Affairs Major-General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah has issued instructions to directors of residence departments in all governorates to renew the visitors’ visas of Syrians for 3 months.

In case of a visitor who has overstayed his/her visit visa the renewal will be done only after payment of fines. The sources pointed out the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior has taken this step in recognition of the humanitarian situation of the Syrians which will help about 20,000 Syrian to amend their legal status, including those who have overstayed their visit visas.
