Today Twitter, social network famous for not banning Nazis from its site, rolled out a redesign , featuring everyone's favorite polarizing design choice: all curved everything. Your profile photo is now round instead of square, buttons are oblong, and the icons look downright childish.
Other aspects of the redesign extend to its iOS and Android apps, including a side navigation menu, bolder typography, and live updating in the mobile app. According to the company's blog, it fixed what we didn't love, which includes square profile photos, apparently:
Today, with lots of feedback and ideas from you, we're refreshing our product too and making it feel lighter, faster, and easier to use. We listened closely and kept what you love. And for the things you didn't, we took a new approach to fix and make better.
It also made Twitter users think the company was more concerned with form rather than function, spending time on redesigning what wasn't broken instead of fighting issues like harassment and vitriol-spewing white supremacist accounts.
Me: Can you ban this verified nazi for telling me to kill myself?

Twitter: No you said fuck once
Me: But..
Twitter: Icons are circles now
If you're nostalgic for when photos were square and the world was pure, designer Kai Brueckers has you covered with that good good Chrome extension, one designed to roll back the clock to the beginning of the week.
Twitter Debubbler™ does what it says on the tin: it removes Twitter's bubbly new redesign, replacing it with the more staid, angular design of (literally) yesterday. Who knows how long the extension will work, but as long as it does I'm keeping it running. Circles are so square anyway.
