5 Ras Abrouq (Bir Zekreet)
Ras Abrouq, also known as Bir Zekreet, is an area north of Dukhan in Qatar. It has a beach of the same name and various archaeological sites.
Ras Abrouq (Bir Zekreet) is a favourite spot for weekend campers
The area around Zikrit and the isolated Ras Abrouq peninsula is noted for its unspoiled sandy beaches, wild deer reserve and haunting lunar-like landscape of limestone rock formations sculpted by the wind into mushroom shapes.
Camping is possible either along the beach or less noticeably in a cove or near the escarpment. Depending on the weather and wind, either of the options makes a good choice.
Zekreet Fort, dating back to the 18th century, it’s located just outside the small town of Zekreet next to the coast.
