There are several public gardens around Kuwait which are maintained by the Municipality. They have slides, swimgs, climbing apparatus and grassy areas for picnics or barbecues.
These are situated within many residential areas including Ahmadi, Bayan, Keifan, Mishref, Rumaithiya, Salmiya and Salwa.
You will also find many 'play areas' for children along the Corniche off Arabian Gulf Street and outside many restaurants but Kuwait is keen on developing more green areas with one called 'Boulevard' being constructed right now in Salmiya.
At present the main recreational parks which are managed by the Touristic Enterprises Company (TEC) are :
1.Green Island
This is a man-made island 300m out to sea towards the North end of Arabian Gulf Street. Here you can hire bicycles, relax on sandy beaches whilst children play on the equipment (slides, swings etc) or walk around the amphitheatre and fountains. Entrance is 250 fils per person and opening hours are 8am to 10.30pm daily.
