Emirates Group recruiting at Careers UAE

The Emirates Group is recruiting UAE nationals at the Careers UAE job fair in Dubai, which is running Sunday to Tuesday at Dubai World Trade Centre.

In its previous financial year, the Emirates Group recruited 850 Emiratis, said Gary Chapman, president of Emirates Group Services and Dnata. He added that the group currently employs more than 3,000 Emiratis.

“We have a dedicated team of professionals, about 35 people, who are purely focused on attracting the right [UAE] nationals that want to work for the Emirates Group, in various disciplines. We have 25 very structured [mentoring] programmes, right across from flying, across the IT support functions, through engineering,” Chapman said.

He added that new recruits should also have buy-in to make the relationship work. “It needs an understanding of the level of commitment required for these programmes … It’s very important to create the right checks and balances so they can interact; so they know they can get the support, but also so that they know they have to do something too.

“It’s not just about the company and what the company is doing. This is about having some ownership and personal responsibilities and some investment. They have to invest their time and their effort and they have to believe in it. So it’s about getting all of those things coming together.”

Chapman said popular departments are piloting, engineering, IT, and general management.

He described Careers UAE as helpful as it creates “a forum for them [Emirati candidates] to come and interact. We have a well-represented group of people from the company here who have been working for a long time with us. So the nationals who might be aspiring to work for the Emirates Group can talk to them, and can be guided by them”.
