The crescent of the Shawwal moon was seen in Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening by the moon-sighting committee. Therefore, Friday will be first day of Eid Al Fitr.
The UAE moon-sighting committee is also likely to make an announcement soon.
Earlier, the International Astronomy Centre announced that the moon had been sighted in Jebel Hafeet using the technique of astronomical imaging (read report).
In the UAE, as announced earlier, the public sector will observe their Eid break until Sunday, June 17, while the private sector will observe a two-day break on Friday and Saturday.
