UAE Armed Forces' power on display at Al Ain mega-show

The aim of the mega-event is to demonstrate the UAE military's ability when in rapid intervention missions.

 

The UAE Armed Forces are set to demonstrate their remarkable military power, rapid intervention and security operations, during the third edition of the Union Fortress, which will take place in Al Ain this Saturday. The show is free to the public and held at the Al Ain International Airport. 

The aim of the mega-event is to demonstrate the UAE military's ability when it comes to carrying out rapid intervention missions with outstanding agility and high efficiency. It will also showcase the strength to perform a wide range of military operations to defend the homeland and protect its security, in close cooperation with other security services.

Union Fortress 3 also focuses on reflecting the advanced capabilities of the country's valiant armed forces and the courage, dedication, skills and field experience of the soldiers, in addition to the force's modern equipment and technologies.

The organisation of the military event also aligns with the vision of the nation's leadership to show the important role played by the UAE Armed Forces in defending the country's borders and protecting the people and their interests from foreign and internal threats, in cooperation with other ministries and government institutions. 

"The UAE Armed Forces are fully supported in terms of organisation, armament, and training in order to enhance and develop their capabilities and keep pace with the technological development and operational reality," states the Union Fortress official website.

"This has made our military a supporting force for regional and global peace, stability and security, while its performance has become the best reflection of the authenticity of our people, as well as our civilised and humanitarian values." 

The Organising Committee of the military show said the UAE Armed Forces' achievements qualified them to earn international respect and admiration. "These forces have become the shield and fortress of the UAE, and the constant protector against conspirators and ill-wishers."

What to expect 

Union Fortress 3 will involve several events, most notably the military show that includes different formations and units of the armed forces, in order to highlight the harmony among them, in addition to carrying out field operations, such as live raids, showcasing the UAE Armed Forces' combat capabilities, while performing internal security operations.

Part of the show includes a scene where a VIP convoy is attacked by terrorists and the guards must handle the situation swiftly and safely. Another scene includes an aerial reconnaissance using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the opening of a command post, that compromises of multi-armed forces.

The event will also demonstrate an air and sea attack on island, tank and best management practices (BMP) attack, air bombing attack, accessing the floating bridge and evacuation of the injured, as well as hostage extraction.

Free for the public 

The Organising Committee of Union Fortress extended an invitation to the public to witness the UAE Armed Force's strength, honour and dedication.

The committee said the audience will be able to watch the show at the Al Ain International Airport, allowing them the opportunity to learn about the capabilities of the protectors of the union. The public are also permitted to bring their cameras and post videos and pictures from the event on social media.

The military show kicks-off at 4.30pm, while the activity zones in the 'Village Zone Area,' begin at 10.00am. The event is expected to end at 10pm.
