UAE tourists can claim VAT refund from November 18

Tourists visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can claim tax refunds, starting 18 November, 2018, according to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).

In a statement posted online, the authority said, "Tourists in the UAE can request tax refund starting from Sunday, November 18."

 

According to the FTA, tourists can apply for refunds at the Abu Dhabi International Airport, Dubai International Airport, and Sharjah International Airport. 

"The minimum value of purchases subject to the refund shall be AED250 and the maximum cash amount that can be refunded to a tourist in a 24-hour period is AED 10,000", the authority added.
