Fish stop traffic to cross the road : VIDEO

More than a dozen fish were caught on camera torpedoing across a flooded highway in the US.

The surprising footage was captured by a motorist who had to stop driving and allow the scaley animals safe passage across a road in Washington state, according to CNN.

Local residents concur that this is a common phenomenon when there's heavy rain.

If the fish are lucky, they can fall back into the creek on the other side of the road.

The species of salmon are known to travel upriver to spawn in the fall.
