More details have been revealed about Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock and how he calculated his murderous rampage.

Before the incident, Paddock hand-wrote a note that detailed the distance and trajectory that would be needed to target and kill the concert-goers from his 32nd-floor hotel room in Mandalay Bay. CNN reported that a note was found in the hotel room that contained only numbers, which were said to be of importance to Paddock. These notes were calculations in an effort to kill and injure as many as possible.

“I did notice, a note on the nightstand near his shooting platform. I could see on it he had written the distance, the elevation he was on, the drop of what his bullet was going to be for the crowd,” said Las Vegas Police Department K-9 unit personnel, David Newton. “So he had had that written down and figured out so he would know where to shoot to hit his targets from there.” The note is said to be pretty extensive, containing not only trajectory and distance but also wind calculations.

Newton continued to describe how he was overcome with an eerie feeling upon storming into Stephen Paddock’s Mandalay Bay hotel room following the shooting. “Very eerie,” he said. “Yeah, the dust from the explosive breach. And then you have the flashing lights. And that looked straight, like, out of a movie, you know?”

Sources spoke to ABC News revealing information about how investigators are increasingly becoming suspicious that Stephen Paddock had undiagnosed and unresolved mental issues. This suspicion was also backed by reports from Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who told investigators that she noticed Paddock had been experiencing quite noticeable mental and physical deterioration over the past couple of months.

Paddock spent most of his free time playing video poker, and while he was extremely wealthy, sources close to him say that he had a lot of trouble making significant relationships with people, which could very well result in loneliness and depression.

Along with the handwritten note, 23 firearms were found in Paddock’s hotel room. He killed 58 people and injured nearly 500 when he opened fire out of his Mandalay Bay hotel room window before taking his own life.

Investigators are still searching for a definitive reason as to why Stephen Paddock would commit such an atrocity.
