Good News For All Public School Teachers! Their Christmas Bonus Will Be Doubled This Year!

It is indeed a merry Christmas for 720,000 public school teachers as they are expected to receive higher bonuses these coming holidays.

The Teachers' Dignity Coalition (TDC) revealed that by the end of the year, public school teachers are expected to receive bonuses ranging from P34,000 to P64,000.

TDC chair Benjo Basas said a teacher with a basic salary of P19,077 will have a minimum of P5,000 (performance-based bonus), P19,077 (a year-end bonus worth); P5,000 (cash gift) and another P5,000 (productivity enhancement incentive).

Basas added that only about 2 percent of teaching force would get the maximum amount of performance-based bonus since it's hard to get a PBB higher than P5,000.

Teachers and other DepEd employees and officials who received national awards last year from the Civil Service Commission, Metrobank Foundation and the National Literacy Awards will get receive the bonus in full at P35,000.
