A Major Career Milestone
Ravleen Varghese achieved a massive milestone in the international fashion industry. The 25-year-old Indian model made her Victoria’s Secret debut on October 18. She was born and raised in Dubai, completing her entire schooling there. She attended Delhi Public School before heading abroad to pursue her ambitions. Varghese walked twice at the star-studded show in Culver City, California. She joined an impressive line-up featuring Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, and Adriana Lima. Kylie Jenner also made her highly anticipated runway debut at the event. For Varghese, this represents a significant moment in a rapidly rising career.
From Notebook Sketches To The Runway
Her journey began far from the glamour of the international fashion circuit. Long before she shared a runway with supermodels, Varghese sketched dresses. She drew glamorous women in elaborate outfits in her school notebooks in Dubai. Her father shared details of her inspiring journey with Gulf News recently. As a young girl, she drew tall fashion figures and experimented with colors. Years later, the girl who drew fashion models became one herself. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is no ordinary runway presentation globally. It remains one of the most recognizable spectacles in the fashion industry.
The Return Of A Global Spectacle
The brand discontinued the show in 2018 amid intense public criticism. The traditional runway show finally returned in 2024 with a renewed focus. The brand placed a much stronger emphasis on diversity and representation this year. Varghese made the absolute most of her debut, appearing in two different looks. She walked in a pink lace ensemble before returning in a black-and-white outfit. She joins a small group of Indian models to walk the famous runway. Varghese moved to India to study fashion design at NIFT in Delhi. She subsequently pursued a master's degree at Parsons School of Design.
