Emergency services treat two people with hot water burns after Gold Coast Airport incident

TWO people have been hurt after spilling coffee on themselves on a flight to the Gold Coast this morning.

A Jetstar spokesman confirmed one person had been hospitalised after they, along with a fellow passenger, spilt coffee on themselves during minor turbulence on the Jetstar flight at about 7.30am.

One person suffered burns to their stomach and was taken to Tweed Hospital after landing at Gold Coast Airport.

The other person suffered minor burns but did not require hospitalisation.

Channel 7’s Sunrise this morning reported emergency crews were responding to a possible fire or explosion at the airport.

This was quickly dismissed by Gold Coast Airport who confirmed there was no cause for alarm.

The injured patient was in a stable condition.
