Her husband, on other hand, is fighting for his life at Rashid Hospital.

An Indian woman died and her husband was critically injured after their car crashed into a truck on Friday. The couple was on their way to attend service at St Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church's Dubai cathedral.

The deceased has been identified as Reeja Varghese. Her husband, Varghese Koshy is fighting for his life at Rashid Hospital, Dubai.

The police said that the husband lost control of his vehicle and rammed into a truck; his wife died on the spot.

Hydraulic cutters were used to extricate them from the mangled remains of the vehicle, the police added. The husband was rushed to the hospital and the wife's body was sent to the forensic medicine department.

The Rashidiya police station carried out the investigation to identify the woman's body.

The body has been kept in the forensic department and documents from Rashidiya police station are awaited. The body will be handed over after legal and administrative procedures are completed, the police pointed out.
