Man Arrested For Creating Viral AI Video Of Bengaluru Bomb Blast

Misusing Artificial Intelligence Tools

Police arrested a 25-year-old man in Bengaluru for a dangerous digital hoax. The accused allegedly created and shared an artificial intelligence-generated video online. The video falsely depicted a massive bomb blast at the Vidhana Soudha. This building serves as the prominent seat of Karnataka’s state legislature. Police identified the accused as Hazarat Ali, a native of Bihar. Ali had moved to Bengaluru a few months ago for work. The fabricated video circulated widely on the Instagram platform recently. It showed the prominent government building being destroyed in an apparent explosion.

Causing Unnecessary Public Alarm

The footage raised serious concerns about the misuse of powerful AI tools. Creating misleading visuals of attacks on public buildings causes widespread public panic. No actual blast or incident occurred at the Vidhana Soudha building. The clip was reportedly shared through a specific Instagram account. It depicted a person pointing towards the building before AI-generated effects appeared. The video subsequently went viral, attracting massive attention on social media. The account was later deactivated, but the clip had already circulated widely. Bengaluru Police arrested Ali and registered a formal criminal case.

Investigating The Digital Motive

Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the creation of the footage. They want to determine the accused’s exact role and underlying motive. The incident highlights the complex challenges posed by realistic AI-generated images. Fabricated footage presented without proper context can easily mislead viewers entirely. It spreads dangerous misinformation and creates unnecessary alarm within the community. Law enforcement agencies must adapt quickly to combat these sophisticated digital crimes.
