He was not able to get 'hits' on TikTok due to the poor quality of his videos.

Desperate to make better videos on TikTok, a 20-year-old Delhi man snatched an iPhone worth Rs 100,000 (Dh5,000 approx) from its owner whom he met on the pretext of buying the phone.

Police arrested the snatcher, identified as Jatin Nagar, on Saturday from east Delhi who confessed he wanted the phone for recording better quality videos for his TikTok account, reported Hindustan Times. He told police that he worked as a call centre executive with a popular food outlet and also earned money as a 'TikTok artist'.

However, he was not able to get desired 'hits' on TikTok due to the poor quality of his videos and hatched a plan to steal an iPhone. So when an iPhone owner named Jatin Chhabra put up his phone for sale on an online commerce site, Nagar posed as an interested buyer and arranged a meeting with him.

When Nagar met Chhabra, he asked him to show the iPhone before buying it and allegedly snatched it away before he fled on his motorbike. "As Nagar's financial condition did not allow him to buy a costly phone, he hatched the idea of stealing someone's iPhone. He scanned the online commerce site, selected an iPhone XS seller and tricked the seller into meeting him to sell the phone after impersonating as a potential buyer," police said.
