The popcorn seller took a bank loan to make the machine.
A popcorn seller in Pakistan built a small aircraft with his savings and tested the plane by flying it in an open field, was arrested on Monday. Punjab police said the man did not have a prior permit from Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to fly his aircraft.
Muhammad Fayyaz from Arifwala, Pakpattan, who also works as a part-time security guard, built the small aircraft with his savings and a bank loan of Rs50,000. His plane was confiscated as he built it without a permit and also performed aerobatics in the makeshift flying machine.
"I made the aircraft with my hard work. My plane can fly till 1,000 feet. Give me one chance so that I can prove that I am a patriotic Pakistani. I informed every department but no one responded me," Fayyaz was quoted in Pakistan Today. But Fayyaz claimed that he had sent a request to the CAA for test-flying his plane to which they never responded.
Naseem Ahmed, a CAA expert, told media that the CAA laws are clear that Pakistani airspace cannot be used without due permission by any air machine. "There needs to be an approval. It's for their own good for their safety. What if God forbid the plane crashes with any building. Ignorance cannot be used as an excuse," Ahmed added.
