Union Demands Urgent Status Update On Missing Indian Seafarers In Hormuz

A Dangerous Drone Attack At Sea

The Forward Seamen's Union of India demanded immediate answers from authorities on Monday. They sought an urgent status update regarding two missing Indian seafarers. The men vanished after a drone attack targeted the commercial vessel MT Petro Dolphin. The attack occurred while the ship navigated the highly volatile Strait of Hormuz region. The FSUI urged authorities to confirm their exact whereabouts and support their grieving families. The union identified the targeted vessel as a Nicaragua-flagged commercial tanker. A drone struck the ship near Oman's Sohar Anchorage on October 11. The union identified the missing seafarers as Bir Bahadur Yadav and Amit Singh.

Raising Concerns Over Maritime Safety

The organization raised severe concerns regarding the safety of seafarers operating regionally. "Awaiting urgent status update on 2 missing Indian seafarers," the FSUI posted online. They demanded immediate confirmation of their status and full protection for all seafarers. The Embassy of India in Oman stated it was monitoring the situation closely. The embassy maintains continuous contact with the concerned maritime and security authorities. Earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of External Affairs condemned the recent commercial attacks. The MEA also reported a separate attack on the Marshall Islands-flagged MT Valthera. An unknown projectile struck that tanker, triggering a dangerous fire onboard the vessel.

Coordinating Desperate Rescue Operations

Fortunately, all 11 Indian seafarers aboard the MT Valthera were reported completely safe. The MEA stated the safety of Indian seafarers remains an absolute government priority. The Indian Embassy in Muscat is coordinating search efforts with Omani authorities. They are working with ship management companies to facilitate the desperate rescue operations.
