UP: 63 Children Died In Matter Of 6 Days At Baba Raghav Das Medical College

According to NDTV, the company that supplied oxygen cylinders to Gorakhpur’s Baba Raghav Das Medical College is undergoing investigation and raid, as 63 children died in a matter of 6 days.

On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh were asked to resign by the Congress, for negligence and inefficiency in giving proper medical facility to the patients, leading to 63 deaths in Gorakhpur's Baba Raghav Das Medical College.

Reportedly the suppliers of liquid oxygen were not even paid on time. According to senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress party had spent many crores to facilitate medical needs in the hospital during its rule. The cause of these 63 deaths was reported to be a disruption in oxygen supply.

Gorakhpur DM Rajeev Rautela stated that suppliers should not cut the oxygen supply going forward in any such situation. UP government defended the medical college, however, they assured that District Magistrate has started a magisterial probe looking into the matter and the report will be out in 24 hours.
